During her first year of recovery in 2017, Kelly volunteered her time in the movement with a non-profit addiction recovery advocacy organization to bring world-class prevention, treatment, and recovery support services to all Oregonians suffering from the disease of addiction. Although she dropped out of high school her junior year, Kelly graduated with an Associates of Science degree in Human Services at Rogue Community College (RCC) in 2020. As she went on to obtain her Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, she began her journey with the ROC Recovery Center in 2021 as an Intern and was hired on as a Peer Support Specialist while training to become a Counselor. She graduated at Southern Oregon University (SOU) in 2022.
Kelly has a background as a Counselor in training at a medical assisted treatment facility, Case Management at a women’s residential treatment facility, and worked with survivors of domestic and sexual violence as an Advocate. She is a person of recovery and a survivor of domestic and sexual violence, and it has been her passion to give back to others who have sturggled with addiction and abuse.
In 2023, Kelly bought her first home in Tennessee to live closer to her mom. She has started her own business as a Dog Trainer while working part-time at a local church and maintaining her connection with the ROC Recovery Center. The staff at the ROC Recovery Center has helped Kelly to cultivate, nurture, and develop her relationship with God. She often turns to Doug when she has questions about Bible verses and scriptures and appreciates the way he explains things in a way that has helped her grow in understaning the Word of Christ. For Kelly, the people at the ROC Recovery Center are family.
